There's nothing terribly sexy at all about headphone amps. The fact is, every studio's got to have one. If you're looking for a simple, small-format, and (best of all) affordable headphone amp, the PreSonus HP4 is the way to go. The HP4 has all of the outputs you need for a typical band, you know, a guitarists/frontman, another guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. It's got ¼" inputs that accept either balanced or unbalanced ¼" input, and it only takes up a third of a rack space. An ultra-quiet, -98dB noise floor lets the HP4 get loud enough to cave in your drummer's head — well, not really, but loud enough he won't complain. It also doubles as a monitor switch, complete with a MONITOR MUTE button. Best of all, the HP4 is shiny and blue. And did we mention it's really, really, inexpensive?
