Planting Tulips: Tulips need a chilling period and are planted in the fall. Planting depth should be about 3 times the bulb's diameter; small bulbs will be about 5-6 inches deep, larger bulbs 8-10 inches. Keep watering weekly, if it doesn't rain, until the ground freezes. Feed again, when the leaves emerge in the spring.

You can also plant the bulbs in pots on patios, decks or window boxes. Just make sure that they do have access to water. Alternately, you could plant them on pots and enjoy seeing them come up indoors. The flowers won't last as long as they will outside but 5 or so tulip bulbs in a six inch pot are sure way to bring spring inside!
