Why the sterling silver may turn black?
Sterling silver is a kind of unstable metal element which may turn black when it is in air. When it touch the Hydrogen Sulfide in the air, it's face will become dark because of the production of Ag2s, the equation is 4Ag+H2S+O2=2Ag2s+2H2O, the more Silver Sulfide, the darker, so the surface turns from silver to yellow, gray and black at the end.
How to clean the silver sulfide and conserve ?
If it turns black, please use toothpaste to rub slightly until it becomes bright again, then clean and dry it with cloth. Please keep it dry and when you take it off, please clean it with soft cloth and keep it in the sealed package or box to avoid it been exposed in the air and turn black.
