HDMI+VGA, DVI+VGA can work simultaneously
DVI and HDMI ports CAN'T work simultaneously.
HDMI+VGA, DVI+VGA outputs can work at the same time, that allow connecting two extenal monitors.(but the two external monitors will show the same image)
Note that the max resolution is 1080P only while they are working simultaneously.
USB port
The adapter's USB 2.0 port can be used for charging and connecting other usb devices.
Note:
1. VGA port allows only video, no audio output.
2.As Apple laptop has privacy protection function, you may need to set on your computer as below steps when using this adapter with Apple laptop.
go to manu->set->select "agree to let data on your laptop to other monitors"
